Living With Purpose
Sep 02, 2022What is the meaning of life? Many of us have asked ourselves this question at some point in our journey on this earth. When you are tempted to say “I don’t know” or “I have no clue”, please politely thank your brain and put that thought aside. If we continue to think “I don’t know”, the creative zone in our brain becomes paralyzed and it will be very difficult to dig out the answer in the deep sea of ideas in our head. Rather, be curious and say to yourself, “let me explore”, or “let’s find out”.
I believe life is to live with purpose. We can set that as our goal, our mission, or our motivation. Life without purpose is without focus; it is scattered. You may be doing a lot of different things but feel like you are lost. You may have many ideas but they don’t seem to exist in harmony. You may run around in circles and find that you have not progressed from where you started.
Let me extent the invitation to you to live life with purpose. First, identify the ultimate goal you want to accomplish. It can be a mission, a broad statement, such as helping people. Consider this your long-term goal.
Be committed to the cause. Pour your heart in.
Next, narrow down your general purpose, refine it, such as helping people by taking care of their illnesses. Be focused on doing activities related to your goal, and have the discernment to say No to things which are not in alignment with it.
The more laser-focused we are, the most committed we are to our purpose, the easier it is to select actions associated with it. This will open up opportunities to accomplish your goal, even more than you can imagine. Being focused is not being restricted; it is the way to streamline and make choices.
As we live with purpose, you will develop creative expression to manifest that purpose. The commitment to living with purpose should not be felt rushed. Experience that in your body. Identify and feel the sensations. Remind yourself daily what the purpose is while you are doing daily activities which may seem routine.
We can learn from our past, our childhood experiences, our “mistakes” which are learning opportunities. Live in the present. Enjoy the process of getting clarity in life with purpose. Think into the future – imagine how you think and feel when you have been living a purposeful life.
Over time, we may have to re-define our purpose, based on our experiences, our thoughts and on how we feel. It may be refining details, or it may be a complete overhaul. As long as you have a goal, a direction to go toward, you can focus on your connection with other people and with your surroundings. It will not be truly living if life is not driven by a mission. You will then be doing busy work for the sake of keeping yourself busy, and your scatter brain will lead you to nowhere.
Are you ready to stop feeling stressed and overwhelmed? Are you ready to have more time to do what you want?
