How To Gain More Clarity In Life
Jul 31, 2023Do you know what you really want in life? To have clarity in life is to understand what matters to you, what your goals are, and what kind of relationships you want to have.
Having clarity gives you direction and focus. Otherwise it is easy to be confused. Sometimes you may even believe that someone else’s goals are your own. When you know exactly what you want, it will be easier to design your life to go toward that direction. Your life becomes more purposeful when you get to live according to your values. You also get to know what does not matter to you.
If you are not truly clear on what you want in life, you may be lost. You may not know where to start. You may be going through the daily grind, the daily routine without really think about if that is who you truly are.
When you are clear on who you are and what direction you want to go, it is less likely that you will veer away from your original goal-oriented path. You get to learn more about the true you. You get to live a more authentic life. It will be less likely for you to be influenced by other people and change your goals simply because they fit the other person better.
The first step to gain more clarity in life is to take the time to explore who you truly are. Pause from life by taking a break or scheduling a set time to do it. You may have to take a break from what you are doing. Focus and reflect. Think about where you are right now. Does it bring you closer to where you want to be?
Meditation is an important practice for you to look deeper within. Are there things you are hiding from yourself? Are you afraid to see the full picture of you? If yes, why is that?
Journaling is another great way to have more clarity in life. You think things through to write them out. Your journal can also serve as a two-dimensional reminder of your goals and purpose. If you journal regularly, it can also be used as a reminder of your progress.
Talking it out is another avenue to gain more clarity in life. Talk to your friend, your spouse, your partner, or your coach. Sometimes you gain more clarity when you talk it out loud. The other person may serve as a reflection for you, or be the person who asks you “challenging” questions. If you are absolutely clear on what you want, you will not likely have doubt when you are questioned. You will get to have more happiness in life.
Taking care of yourself is a very important step to get clarity. When you are focused on rushing, fighting to get more sleep, ignoring your well-being – these are likely things opposite of what you want in life. Health comes first, be it physical health or mental health – we need both. It is important to have healthy habits, regular exercise, balanced diet and adequate sleep.
When you have clarity on your life, take action. Do things which are gearing you toward what is important to you. It is alright to be scared, treading toward the unknown. It is alright to be imperfect. We continue to learn and grow. As long as you are clear on a set direction, taking one step at a time will point you to where your goal is.
